About Us
Mission:
The mission of Elimu Africa is to help support disadvantaged students in Africa by facilitating their pursuit of education, which is vital to combating the cycle of poverty, disease, and abuse.

Immediate Goals:
To support existing NGOs in Tanzania which provide education to disadvantaged students by:
  • Fundraising to provide financial support and attaining donations of school equipment and materials
  • Facilitating volunteerism from abroad
  • Communicating with administration at the Tanzanian NGO to continually assess current needs of the organization as well as progress and success of their programs.

Long-term Goals:
Educating African youth and adults on:
  • The importance of obtaining an education for long-term success.
  • The value of showing equal respect for all people, including women and children
  • The importance of advocating for women’s and children’s rights.
  • The health issues facing Africans today.
  • Resourcefulness and business skills.
  • The importance of local volunteerism within villages.

Elimu Africa Values:
We are not affiliated with any particular community or religious organization, but respect those of all backgrounds, faiths and spiritual beliefs.

We will continually work to:
  • Maintain an environment of open communication and respect among Elimu Africa members and those we collaborate with and serve.
  • Celebrate and respect cultural differences.
  • Share our resources, knowledge and skills with those we support in Africa without attempting to change their culture or force our solutions on their circumstances.
  • Provide services to encourage education and promote self sufficiency.
  • Use our resources honestly, wisely and efficiently.
  • Maintain Elimu Africa as a grassroots organization and keep administrative costs to a minimum.
  • Be innovative in the methods we use to uphold our mission.
  • Continually track our progress to ensure we are upholding our mission and values.
